Question Time is a topical debate programme typically broadcast on BBC One at 10.45pm on Thursdays. It is usually repeated on BBC Two with additional footage at 12.15am on Fridays.

The programme features a panel of guests, usually politicians or other public figures, who are questioned by a studio audience. The questions are submitted in advance by the audience and are typically on topics of current affairs.

The programme has been running since 1979 and is one of the BBC's flagship current affairs programmes.

How are audiences selected for Question Time?

Audiences for Question Time are selected by a random draw from a database of people who have applied to be in the audience. The database is compiled from people who have registered on the BBC website or who have been contacted by the BBC.

Are the audiences given the questions to ask?

No. The questions are submitted by the audience in advance and are not given to the guests until the programme is broadcast.
